Tooth Extractions

Tooth extractions are dental procedures in which a dentist or oral surgeon removes a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. It's essential to consult with a qualified dentist or oral surgeon if you're experiencing dental issues that may require tooth extraction. They can evaluate your specific situation and recommend the most appropriate treatment and aftercare plan. There are various reasons why tooth extractions may be necessary, including:

Severe Tooth Decay: When a tooth is extensively damaged by decay, it may not be restorable with fillings, crowns, or other dental treatments. In such cases, extraction is often the only option to prevent the spread of infection and further dental problems.

Impacted Wisdom Teeth: Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, often don't have enough space to properly erupt in the mouth. This can lead to impaction, causing pain, infection, or damage to nearby teeth. Extraction may be recommended to alleviate these issues.

Orthodontic Treatment: In some cases, tooth extractions are necessary as part of orthodontic treatment to create space in the mouth and properly align the teeth.

Dental Trauma: Teeth that are severely fractured or damaged due to accidents or injury may need to be extracted if they cannot be repaired.

Periodontal Disease: Advanced gum disease (periodontal disease) can cause teeth to become loose and painful. In cases where the disease has severely damaged the supporting structures of a tooth, extraction may be required.

Overcrowding: In cases where there is insufficient space in the mouth for all the teeth, extractions may be recommended to address overcrowding and improve dental alignment.

Preventive Reasons: Some individuals with compromised immune systems or undergoing certain medical treatments (like chemotherapy) may need to have teeth extracted to prevent potential infection.
